SANDY’S WISDOM

#66: STOP GOING TO THE OCEAN AND BEING MAD AT IT BECAUSE IT ISN’T FRESH WATER!

Recently, I saw an old friend. Having spoken over the years, I had a picture (otherwise known as a box) in my mind of what he was like and how connected our friendship is. It was different. At first I took the disconnect personally, then I looked at who I am and told myself, “Not perfect, and I like who I’ve chosen to be.”

People change. Sometimes we make up who people are and then are surprised to find a difference. To be with someone and expect that person to be who you want them to be is just like going to the ocean and being mad at it because it isn’t fresh water!

You feel outside of one of your family members and get either hurt or angry because that person doesn’t regard you the way you want them to—and every time you’re with them, you are upset. Few people change. You’re going to the ocean and expecting fresh water. This problem is about you….not the other person.

Search until you find someone who gets you, loves you for who you are, and avoid the people who do not. Somewhere, there is someone looking for a friend just like you. Open your mind to that idea and it will become a magnet. Meanwhile, don’t go to the ocean and expect fresh water!

Please share with friends and family.
