#53: THERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT MONEY CAN’T BUY LIKE MANNERS, MORALS AND INTEGRITY.

I am increasingly concerned that we, as adults, are not choosing manners, morals and integrity as the foundation of our lives. Since you teach most by what you model, it is fair to say we are not teaching children those essential skills as well.

You can count on my word because I keep my word. I was taught not to lie as a child. If you accused me of integrity issues, I would say, “I wouldn’t do that!” –because I wouldn’t. These things were taught to me by my family.

Trust is what builds relationships in business and personal; what that means is that people can count on you to embrace honesty and integrity.

Once you compromise on integrity issues, it is easy to do it again. If you make a commitment to yourself to (tell the truth,) it won’t be easy to change, and you’ll like yourself better.

As for manners, they are indicators of awareness of another person’s needs to be valued and appreciated. Manners reflect kindness which build bridges between people instead of walls.

A narcissist thinks only of self, the rest of us need to remember that it is morals, values, integrity and manners that will save us all from self-destruction.
