#61: WHICH IS RIGHT, YOUR PERSPECTIVE OR MINE?

Perspective is HOW you see things. How you see things determines the quality of your life. Your perspective changes over time as you literally see things differently. If you were walking down the street and someone started pushing you from behind, your tendency would be to get angry very quickly. If you turned around, only to find that the person doing the pushing was blind, your perspective thus your attitude would immediately change.

Perspective is how you see things. How you see life determines the quality of your life. MY father used to say, “I was unhappy because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.” He taught me to constantly over-rule the ego’s “poor me” dramas with a reality check. One of my personal exercises is to say, “OK, Sandy, you get to trade lives with anyone you choose, and you need to trade everything in your life.” I’ve never lived a time when I would trade everything.

Life could be better. What we fail to consider is that it could always be worse. A “reality check” means to consider what could be worse so you get off your “victim stool” and change your actions. When your perspective changes, energy becomes available to change your reality.

I will say, “Turn the lens, see it differently!” when someone is trapped in a narrow perspective. We limit ourselves by narrowing our perspective on life.
